The Root Talon is 36" high with a tool blade 12" long By 6" wide. It
features a heavy duty cast iron tool head coupled to a lifetime warranted
epoxy handle for years of heavy duty use by homeowners and professionals.
You'll
find the Root Talon a great help in ripping out invasive plants like
Buckthorn!
A quick wrap of the stem into the side hook and leverage, and the root
stem is out of the ground.
This works on Buckthorn because, unlike some plants, Buckthorn does not
grow back from the roots. So as long as you remove the first inch or so into
the soil, that plant won't come back. This is one reason why cutting at or
above ground level won't kill that plant.
At Wild River State Park, volunteers hang the removed stem upside down on
a nearby brush. This "air dries" the root, killing the plant, and marks
progress at the same time!
